My name is Jeresia Noris and I am married to a wonderful man who entered the country without inspection over 10 years ago. We have been together for 5 years and have had 2 children together. He is also a wonderful step-parent to my 3 older children.

In this country we are facing a crisis of fathers not willing to step up and be in their childrens life. I am one of the lucky few women who has a wonderful, passionate, hands-on father for all of my children.

However, since he entered the country illegally, we are now facing deportation. My husband has no felony convictions and has done nothing with his time here except try to better his circumstances and those of us who are around him. Before I met him I had no real opinion on immigration. Mostly because I had no understanding. I had no idea that families were being broken and children being left fatherless. Am I being asked by my own country to take my 5 American children to the wilds and dangerous of Mexico? What kind of mother would I be? How would I support them not understanding the language?

My daughter was recently born 8 weeks premature following an ICE raid at our home. Am I to take her to Mexico? Will she get the care she receives? Or should I seperate from my husband and leave my children fatherless but in the relative safety of America? Who will support us? Does the country and GOVT prefer that we perhaps utilize assistance rather than have their own father support and provide for them as he has been doing?

Let's Talk

It's time for a new conversation about immigration in America, and it starts with us.
