I am a devout Catholic, Mexican-American. Not because I was born here but because like some I was brought here to have a better life and opportunities that lack in my native country. I have fought to educate myself, even though it has been tough. And not just in school but to contribute to this society. I dedicate most of my free time to serve God, and therefore others. To educate what schools don’t educate you. To help our Latino community be better and be better people in the place we live, and that we therefore love despite of the prejudice we receive.

I’ve lived 24 years here and have noticed more ignorance in to what cultures are immigrants and the misconception that we are all uneducated. We do not want anyone’s place or pity. We want our own place in this society respected, just like others that have come before us. If our parents sacrificed so much then the least we could do is make them proud, and the rest of our country as well. Because we do consider this OUR country too!

Let's Talk

It's time for a new conversation about immigration in America, and it starts with us.
