I am Joe, I came here in the USA in year 2004.

I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate with a 15 years experience. It was a dream come true to get here and work in this country. My wife is a Dentist in our country but she gave up working there just to pursue going here in America. I work from 1 company to another because to pursue the processing of our greencard.

Due to the current economic downturn in 2008, my H1B visa expires and my employer laid me oof and they didn’t process our greencards. Everyday I have a lots of calls from agencies and different companies offering me a good salary ($120,000 annual). But unfortunately, they declines as they found my visa already expired.

We can’t go back to our country since my children were born here and it’s kind of difficult to adjust again. I am hoping that comprehensive immigation reform will come up soon and will give favor for those victims of the 2008 economic downturn especially the proffesionals. I believe I’m not the only one proffesional that still here in the USA and waiting for the immigration reform. There’s a lot! I am hoping that this story will read by the politicians. This country needs help from the professionals.

Let's Talk

It's time for a new conversation about immigration in America, and it starts with us.
