America today reminds me of the “melting pot” I learned of in school but never really saw except in big cities. Both of my Grandmother’s were from Nova Scotia, Canada. My husband’s Dad and Mom were from Poland. They lost the farm that had been in my father-in-law’s family for over 200 years. My husband was born in Germany and came to the United States through Ellis Island. I’m a Bostonian that met a Polish/German immigrant in Texas! My daughter’s partner is from Vietnam. Thus, we refer to our family as the Heinz 57 of families. Though I’m sure there are far more diverse families, it really doesn’t matter where we come from. We are all human. And we should treat others the way we wish to be treated. Truth be told, we are all related one way or another anyhow.

Let's Talk

It's time for a new conversation about immigration in America, and it starts with us.
