Most of my family on my dad’s side came to the US illegally from Czechoslovakia over 100 years ago. I’m here, a legal citizen, as is my dad, and my grandfather. And now that i have since moved away from that, I met my best friends, who are from Canada and Mexico. My friend from Mexico wasn’t legal until a few weeks ago, and my friend from Canada’s father had to pass his citizenship exam and endure the grueling process to be able to stay. Now he’s vice-President of L’Oreal. I define American as anyone who is willing to work hard and earn the right to stay here in exchange for giving back to society like every other person living in this country.
