An American is a person who lives in America. I’m half Mayflower descendant, half Irish immigrant. I have two sons, one Navajo and one Ecuadorian. And I grew up largely overseas. About the only thing I have ever really been proud of the States for was the fact that it’s a nation made up of all nations. Take that away, and it means many of my ancestors endured horrific voyages for nothing. I am hurt and frightened for loved ones. And I say again, the only thing that makes you American is that you are here. It’s that simple.
