During my teenage years, I left Guatemala in 1987 during the Dirty War to escape the social divide, the prevalent Injustice, the unforgiving poverty, the raging violence, and seek and forge my own place in the US. More specifically to work in the TV/film Industry, so I managed to get a Student Visa via which expired a couple of years after and with no recourse I chose to stay and use resilience to achieve my goals. Today, I have a BA in Film Production and graduated with a 3.6 Magna Cum Laude in my Masters Degree in Film Studies, which opened the door to working for many of the top Film Studios in Hollywood and I am on the verge of starting my own Production and Distribution Company. To this day I can’t go back to Guatemala, but I hope that the new law under Obama for Highly Skilled Immigrants or Immigrants with children born before 2010, this will be rectified. All in all, the resilience of the Human Spirit is Boundless and knows no borders! Study Hard, Work Hard and be Driven. The Sky is Limitless.

Let's Talk

It's time for a new conversation about immigration in America, and it starts with us.
