I read Maxime Acosta’s story. While I think the immigration system is broken and needs reform, we have always been a country that has opened our hearts and borders. I understand the difficulties involved but we can’t speak and react based on our emotions. Maxime shows disdain for this country that educated her and sends a message that is the cause of so much disunity. Most do not want a wall out of prejudice and hatred. The educated understand that it’s about protection for all and the depth of the immigration issues and problems can’t be fixed overnight. Many are angry and screaming so loud at one another and no one is willing to come together for real solutions. We’re looking at a system that has not changed in 40 years. The catch and release program that took place a number of years ago resulted in thousands of children and women missing. Many were used for sex trafficking, forced work labor and found dead. We desperately need new immigration policy and I pray that will come. My heart breaks after reading some of the stories but doing things illegally never results in a good outcome. I pray answers will come soon. Many blessings.
