My name is Ashni Bhojwani. I moved to Florence S.C. on April 2nd, 2010 from a small country named Belize in Central America. Life in America is completely different from life in Belize. For example, there is a different environment, and an amazing educational opportunity to live in this country.
I have had an amazing chance to advance in my education. I am in the International Baccalaureate Middle Year’s Program, and I am surrounded by amazing teachers, friends, and other immigrants in school. My knowledge has been put through countless challenges in the I.B. Program, but I have had opportunities that I would never have had back home. Some examples why America positively differs from Belize are the educational levels, the challenges, and meeting many new and wonderful people.
The best thing about the U.S.A. is the phenomenal feeling about being safe. I don’t have to worry about the violence on the streets anymore, and I can now go to sleep without feeling scared about what horrible news tomorrow will bring. The sense of security in America is worth the long move. In my opinion, the words that I would use to define the U.S.A. are safe, secure and the motivation to strive for the best. No matter what the circumstances, Belize will always be my home, but South Carolina is my new home away from home. That is my definition of America. Various cultures building one beautiful nation.
