I have grown up dreaming to see and live in the United States of America. it’s every foreign little child’s dream, I can say.Let me give credit to my continuous prayer. I realized that dream when I was 40 yrs. old.i came to America as a visitor and wanted to prove to myself how beautiful and why say “America as a land of opportunity” while visiting , I talked to a US citizen who asked me if I wanted to stay for good. He told me he knew an attorney who could easily help me process my immigration paper. I replied to him I would think it over and would weigh the circumstances as I could not leave my family and the business I had in the Philippines . He insisted me that if it is the case , in three-month paper process , I could get my family fast and easy. God knows, it was tempting opportunity that when I went back to the Philippines I told my husband about it. And went back to the US with him, having the same enthusiasm of working and staying in America for good, while in our three month stay, I immediately phoned that US citizen who had the immigration contacts. As we decided contemplating to have our papers processed, we we paid the agency and the attorney who would arrange all our paper requirements. We would never dreamed to become illegal settlers in America so we paid off using all our savings and our business proceeds to the agency and the attorney . But we did not have the control of it not to happen,We received unfortunate news that the agency where we entrusted our future was raided for illegal business activity. It was a terrible blow to our dream because we left in our country our four children for whom we’ve woven the reality of our dream. We hoped for another hope so we contracted another attorney and made sure ourselves were in good hands, we received sad news, our eldest son who was 14 yrs old, was rushed to the hospital and within 72 hrs was pronounced dead. We wanted to go home to attend his funeral but our attorney and closed friend convened not to do that because we could not get back to the USA anymore with remorse , we heeded their advice and worked hard for the good future of our other three children . We have focused ourselves to working hard and at the same time paying taxes because we believed that is the right thing to do. I am a caregiver and a part time housekeeper, while my husband is working in a laboratory. For 11 yrs now , we have not seen our children who also hoping that someday God will smile at us and we’ll see each other again and live happily ever after realizing our entire American dream. The USA government will be happy to accommodate our children because they have been responsible children all their adolescent life. During the USA election in November 2012. I wanted to join the campaign for Pres. Obama but I read that illegals were not authorized to. In my small way of supporting Pres. Obama, I talked and convinced all my US citizen friends to vote for him. Even my sister who is Canadian citizen supported him by talking to our relatives and her friends in the USA to vote for Pres. Obama. I believed our concerted prayers helped for Pres. Obama’s re election. Thank you for giving a chance to tell my story. Sincerely, Gloria
