I have lived in the United States of America my whole life. I grew up in small town on the eastern side of the Central Valley of California called Sanger. To me being an American means having the ability to express your freedom and explore opportunities. I am so grateful to have grown up in a first world country where I have the freedom to fulfill my dreams. I am currently a student at the University of California Santa Cruz majoring in Mathematics. I yearn to be a math teacher in the future. I want to make an impact on children’s lives. In this great country, I have the freedom and opportunity to become whatever I want in life. I will never be forced by anyone to take a different path. Being an American has made me realize what I have compared to some other countries. For Instance, some countries in Africa do not have the same freedom and opportunities as us Americans. I do not take anything that I have for granted. As Americans we need to cherish our freedom and opportunities to succeed in life.
