I am 30 years old, married to a wonderful man and soldier, working as a nurse at a local hospital. I am very happy with my life: having a family who loves me, a roof over my head, a car to drive, food on the table, and simple luxuries that make life more enjoyable. I have freedom to worship as I believe and pursue dreams I desire like painting and dancing. This life and these opportunities happened thanks to my mom. She wanted something better for herself and family. Life in the Philippines was full of hard work and sacrifices. It was her determination and vision for the future that made it all possible. She continues to serve as a nurse, just as she did back in the Philippines. Thanks to her, I have been given that same privilege. Immigration has always been a part of American history. That’s what I think makes America so special. Individuals from anywhere in the world can envision life here because of what America offers and will continue to offer: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The dream that one can make something of themselves, provided determination, commitment, and dedication. I believe that America is still the “beacon of hope on a hill.” I support a comprehensive immigration reform.
