Stop Separating Mothers From Their Children at the Border

Our annual hashtag celebrates the resilience and joy of American immigrant families.

Stop Separating Mothers From Their Children at the Border

428 needed to reach goal of 1,501

Women and children are coming to our nation’s Southern border in hopes of escaping life-threatening poverty and violence. Because the U.S. Department of Justice fears being “overwhelmed” by families, officials have imposed new rules to criminally prosecute these mothers separate them from their children in the process.

The ancestors of John Kelly, Donald Trump, and Mike Pence all came to America seeking a better life. In the name of “making America great again,” our tax dollars are now being used to rip babies away from their mothers’ arms. For daring to seek their own American dream, families are thrown at the machinery of the private detention system.

Add your name to the petition, and join us in calling on the U.S. Department of Justice to welcome immigrant families seeking refuge, and end this practice of criminal prosecution and family separation. Signatures will be delivered to Jefferson Sessions, Attorney General of the United States.

Define American’s Executive Director, Rev. Ryan M. Eller, will be participating in an act of civil disobedience today, standing up for immigrant mothers and children as part of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.
