their ethnic identity. “We are not Indian Americans, African Americans,
Irish Americans, rich Americans or poor Americans; we are Americans,” he
said…”

“Just imagine if Mr. Jindal could have understood the fundamental premise
of the country: that every immigrant who comes to this country actually
redefines what it means to be an American, and in the process adds to
the collective identity of this country. He could have spoken eloquently
about the tremendous success of the Indian American community in the
U.S. and the enormous contribution it has made here, in medicine,
science, policymaking, and government.”
