I am a 21 year old Mexican citizen living in the United States without proper documentation. I have been in the US since I was four. I do not know any other country. I have excelled in school, I graduated 4th in my high school class, and was accepted into a state university. I would have loved to go, but financially I was unable to attend. Instead, I have been working and going to community college, taking all the basic courses in hopes that by the time I finish, I will be able to transfer to the state university to obtain a business degree without my current situation being a limitation. For years, I have hoped the Dream Act would make it through the legislative process. I was devastated this last time when it was linked as a provision to a defense bill and was defeated.
